Houston Deco: Houston's Modernistic Architecture
339 W. 19th St.
altered
Historic name: Heights Theater
Current name: Heights Theater Antiques (vacant)
Completed: 1929
Remodeled: 1935
GHPA Good Brick Award (façade renovation), 1993

The theater was originally built in the Mission style, but was given a modernistic update in late 1935. The façade and marquee survived an arson fire that gutted the theater in 1969. A renovation completed in 1989 restored the neon signage and preserved the historic profile of the Art Moderne exterior, but did not restore the theater's interior.
